There is medicine and magic within you.

There is a part of you that already knows how to heal. Inner Being Medicine is about that part of you.

It’s about helping you hear it, and remember the way back home to yourself.

I’m Aleksandra Matakovic-Manca. For over two decades I worked as an integrative medical doctor, consultant psychiatrist and psychotherapist.

I spent years learning, and then unlearning my way to something truer and more alive. This became Inner Being Medicine.

Why I created Inner Being Medicine

I worked in a system where Western medicine can be practised with heart and integrity alongside the wisdom of other healing traditions.

I experienced what it’s like when clinical depth meets intuition, the wisdom of the body, the power of the heart, and the magic of the spiritual world.

I believe in a form of medicine that empowers people, honours their wisdom, and helps them reconnect to the innate capacity to heal and regenerate present in every living being, in each other, and in the natural world.

I witnessed the transformation that becomes possible when people are seen in their wholeness, and met with love.

Underneath everything I believe is one thing: what is in the way is asking to be seen. Not fixed, not managed. Met.

Inner Being Medicine is an integrated, relational approach that helps you find home inside yourself, so you can return there again and again. It weaves together everything I’ve learned from over two decades as a psychiatrist and psychotherapist, and from my own healing journey — nervous system regulation, somatic practice, trauma-informed approaches, and authentic relating — to help you transform not just how you cope, but how you are, and how you move through life. The aim isn’t less overwhelm. It’s more capacity: to feel life fully, to stay present, and to love more — yourself, others, life itself.

What I Believe

These are the truths I return to — the ground beneath everything I do.

You are not broken.

You do not need to be fixed. You need to be met — fully, honestly, and without judgement.

Deep inside, you already carry everything you need. This work is not about adding something new. It is about gently removing what stands in the way.

Healing happens through connection.

Healing is a side effect of connection — with yourself, with others, with life itself. Not something you achieve, but something that becomes possible when you are truly met.

Love is the most transformative medicine we have. Not as a concept, but as a living, present force that moves through genuine human connection.

It takes two to know one. When you are witnessed and held with a loving gaze, what was hiding in the shadows no longer needs to hide. That is when it transforms.

Here, being seen is recognition, not exposure. Held, not analysed.

The whole of you belongs here.

Your trauma, your brilliance, your grief, your longing, your forgotten wisdom — nothing needs to be hidden or left outside the door.

And you were never meant to carry this alone. So much of what feels like your weight was never only yours: inherited, absorbed, held for others. Part of coming home is learning what is yours to keep, and what you are allowed to set down.

Safety sets the pace.

Real change moves at the pace of safety. It is the foundation, the guiding principle. Nothing happens faster than feels right. The pace is always yours.

The body holds the map.

Your body, your intuition, and your inner world are not obstacles or enemies. They hold precious messages, and a deep intelligence that knows the way home.

Healing includes finally listening.

What you carry is a doorway.

What you struggle with is not a malfunction to be fixed. It is a message to be explored, and evidence of what matters — a doorway that carries you closer to life, to love, to freedom, not away from them.

We do this together.

We are both the expert. I bring my training, my years of clinical experience, and my own journey of losing and finding myself. You are the expert of your own life.

Presence matters more than protocol. We work with what is alive in the moment — your words, your body, what goes unsaid.

My years in medicine

For over two decades of a thirty-year path in medicine, healing and connection, I worked across Italy and England with babies, children, young people, families, and adults navigating emotional pain and the complexities of life: physical and developmental challenges, trauma, loss, and sometimes terminal illness.

My own challenges and healing informed my path and guided my journey home, even as I was guiding others back to themselves.

Sometimes this took the form of teaching and supervising psychotherapy colleagues. But at its core, it was always about connection, and love. Even when love did not need to be named.

TRAINING AND REGISTRATION

I qualified as a medical doctor in 2001 and hold registration in the UK (GMC) and Italy (OMCeOMI), where I am also registered as a medical psychotherapist.

Alongside this, three decades of training and study across many other traditions of healing — clinical, somatic, relational, and earth-based.

My journey

When I was young, I had my own share of adverse childhood experiences.

Later, after a serious car accident at fourteen, I lost myself.

Without knowing it, I gradually lost my health, my mind, and the connection with my body.

I have known grief, despair, and my own mind in pieces. There were times I did not want to be alive.

But life had another plan for me.

I spent decades gathering the scattered pieces of my soul, making sense of what had happened, and slowly finding my way back.

Wonderful healers and teachers met me in ways I could not yet meet myself, and helped me draw new maps to navigate by.

Nature has been one of my steadiest allies — in my own healing, and in this work.

It does not hurry. It does not fix.

Something of that pace has become part of how I work.

I dedicated three decades of my life to medicine, healing, and connection — learning all I could, while I was also healing myself.

After all of it, after an immense number of approaches, I realised something.

The change I had been witnessing was not coming from any of the tools or techniques I had learned.

It was coming from the heart — through the love I could feel for the beautiful souls I had the privilege to work with.

What I learned was not the medicine.

What I learned were different languages, and different lenses through which to meet human suffering.

How to observe not only with my eyes, but with my whole being — mind, body, heart and soul.

To become fluent in all the languages a soul might ask to be met in: words, silence, art, touch, the body, play, movement, images, nature.

Each person an entire constellation of parts, yearning to come home — to be met exactly where they were lost.

It took me a long time to admit that what I was doing behind the desk had more to do with love than with my degrees and qualifications.

Accepting this asked me to let go of ways of working I no longer felt aligned with, and to leave a system I never quite belonged to, and felt increasingly distant from.

I am still un-learning.

What feels clear is this: I want to serve others in a way that honours their wholeness — from a place of wholeness.

A place where everything I have learned, from healing others and myself, becomes a medicine rooted in the heart.

Where intuition, the body, and the present moment are precious allies, showing us what wants to be seen.

Where obstacles are met gently, and love is allowed to flow and do its sacred work — the most powerful medicine of all.

Everything I offer comes from there too — from having been broken, and having come home.

The bigger vision

Inner Being Medicine is the way I practise. It is also something larger, way bigger than me.

I see a world where people know there is a medicine within them, and know how to reach it.

Where preventative care is the mainstream rather than the alternative. Where conventional medicine, the older traditions, and the languages that read a life are held together rather than set against each other.

Where children learn early that their body is a system always striving for balance — and that a symptom is a message, not proof that something is wrong with them.

Where health professionals are teachers, guides and mentors, walking alongside, rather than the ones holding all the knowledge.

And somewhere within it, a place where people explore, discover, and learn to heal their own bodies, minds and hearts — through a deeper connection with themselves, with nature, and with each other.

I have practised this way. I have witnessed what becomes possible.

“If others can see it as I have seen it, then it may be called a vision rather than a dream.”
William Morris, 1890

If you are somewhere on your own long way home, I know that ground.

If this meets you, we begin with a Consultation.

WORK WITH ME

This work walks alongside medical and psychological care, and never replaces it.
